California Questionnaire: Brooklyn Peltz Beckham

California Questionnaire: Brooklyn Peltz Beckham

The Los Angeles–based entrepreneur gets his kicks cruising throughout the Golden State and soaking up its many flavors

He’s dabbled in the worlds of photography, modeling, and soccer—or football, as his famous dad David would say—but Brooklyn Peltz Beckham is now fully focused on a future in the culinary world, a pursuit that exploded during the pandemic and was put on display in his 2021 Facebook Watch show, “Cookin’ with Brooklyn.” The lifelong foodie, whose mom is Spice Girl Victoria, has been pouring a lot more heat into his passion lately. He just launched a hot new hot sauce as part of his growing “luxury condiment” line called Cloud23, a brand name that winks at both his dad’s jersey number as well as the day (June 23) the young entrepreneur proposed to his wife, actor-director Nicola Peltz Beckham.

With more than 17 million followers on Instagram alone, Beckham—a cofounder and partner for WeSake spirits—is a bona fide social media star who loves dishing out his food inspiration, favorite cocktail recipes, restaurant recommendations and more to his constantly expanding audience. Here, he shares all the sights, adventures, and tastes that never fail to spice up his life all over the Golden State.

Where do you live? When I’m in California, my home is in Los Angeles.

Why there? I like to be in Los Angeles because it’s where my work is, and it is where I have built a home. It’s a great city with something to offer everyone.

Who or what is your greatest California love? My greatest California love is probably the culinary scene. I have been able to really explore my love for food and the culinary arts while living in California because of the variety of cuisines that are celebrated, the high caliber of chefs throughout the state, and the different ways that Californians enjoy food—from local beachside gems to Michelin-rated favorites. It’s all part of the reason why Los Angeles is one of the places we are focusing on for the launch of my own business, Cloud23.

What is the biggest misperception about Californians? The biggest misconception is that nobody works. I think everyone works quite hard here, I just now see that people do it in ways that allow them to also enjoy life beyond the traditional workday hours.

What is the stereotype that most holds true? Californians love the outdoors and nature. We are so lucky to have so much of it and we can really immerse ourselves in all of it by spending so much time outside. There are very few places to enjoy the beach and mountains in the same day, and here you can do that.

What is your favorite Golden State splurge? My personal favorite Golden State splurge is my vintage 1968 Ford Mustang. Car culture in California is great!

Time for a road trip—where are you going? The perfect California road trip, in my opinion, is to head to the Napa Valley. It is one of my favorite places in the world and no trip there is complete without a visit to Bond Estate and wineries.

If you could decree an official state culinary experience, what would it be? If I could decree one official state culinary experience, it would have to be that everyone must try Cloud23 hot sauces!

What is your favorite way to play in California? Taking a drive along the Pacific Coast Highway.

Where would you go for the ultimate shopping spree in California? My favorite place to shop in Los Angeles is the World of Vintage T-Shirts store on Melrose.

Best California song? Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers

How would your California dream day unfold? A dream day in L.A. for me is spent waking up and completing a workout with my wife. We would then hit Whole Foods to get a healthy juice after our workout and some snacks, then hit the road with our dogs for a drive along the PCH with all the windows down.
